Turn Your Log Cabin into the Perfect Garden Bar
Is there anything better than sipping a cold drink in the comfort of your own garden? If you're the proud owner of a log cabin (or thinking of becoming one), transforming it into a stylish, functional garden bar is a great way to make the most of your outdoor space, especially for summer entertaining.
At Summerhouses Unlimited, we’ve seen a growing trend in customers turning their log cabins into unique, personalised bars.
Before bringing in the drinks trolley, consider how you want to use the space. Will it be a bar for two, or a social hub for entertaining friends and family?
For smaller cabins, opt for a compact bar counter along one wall, with stools and floating shelves for bottles.
For larger cabins, you can create separate zones such as a bar area, seating/lounge area, and even a dartboard or TV for the full pub feel.
You can add bi-fold or French doors to open up the space in summer and blur the lines between indoors and outdoors.
Your log cabin bar should reflect your style.
Rustic Pub, Vintage beer signs, and a cast iron stove for colder months.
Modern Cocktail Lounge, Neon signs, sleek bar stools, LED lighting, and glass shelving.
Tropical Tiki Bar, Bamboo finishes, colourful cushions, string lights, and a rum selection that would make any beach bar jealous.
No bar is complete without a well-stocked drinks selection. Build your bar to suit your tastes:
Essentials: Spirits, mixers, beer, wine, soft drinks, and plenty of ice.
Barware: Shakers, muddlers, glasses (martini, wine, highball), and a fridge.
Snacks: Add a small cupboard or drawer for crisps, nuts, or even a popcorn machine.
Lighting is key for creating atmosphere.
Warm fairy lights or festoon bulbs for a relaxed vibe.
Wall-mounted sconces or lanterns for a rustic look.
LED strip lights around the bar or under shelves for a modern, ambient glow.
Don’t forget outdoor lighting too—for safe and stylish access after dark.
Personalise your bar to make it feel truly yours:
Wall décor: Signs, chalkboards with cocktail specials, framed posters.
Furniture: Bar stools, a small corner sofa, or even beer garden-style benches.
Entertainment: Bluetooth speaker, projector for garden cinema nights, or pub games like cards and dominos.
With the right insulation and a small heater or log burner, your garden bar can be enjoyed well beyond summer. Log cabins from Summerhouses Unlimited are built to last, offering a cosy escape for winter nights just as much as summer afternoons.
