Here at Summerhouses Unlimited, we want to provide you with cabins that you can use and enjoy all year round. To do that, we use high-quality insulation materials to keep that precious heat inside.
Using just words, it's tough to describe how efficiently our cabins retain heat once they’ve been insulated. But if I had to choose, the words toasty, cosy and snuggly come to mind. But what does our insulation process involve? That’s what this blog post is here to explain.
Heat rises and would escape through the roof if it weren’t for our five-part insulation system. During the construction of the main body of the cabins, our excellent installation team will have added roof boards that make up the ceiling of your cabin; these act as the first layer to prevent heat loss. Secondly, we attach a thermal reflective membrane to the roof boards. This membrane is very energy efficient, meaning that heat struggles to escape, and continues to help create that warm atmosphere that you want from being inside a cabin. As an additional feature, not only does this membrane keep heat in, but it also keeps heat out during the summer months, reflecting it away, and helping to keep your cabin that much cooler.
The next part of our insulation system is the insulation boards, which provide incredible thermal performance to your cabin. The insulation boards we use are light and easy to transport, which greatly helps during the installation process, though that doesn’t mean their effectiveness or longevity is in any way lessened. Our insulation boards are rated as one of the best options when it comes to environmental effects and global warming, meaning you can be rest assured that having your cabin insulated is not increasing your carbon footprint. These insulation boards are also used beneath the floor, which is more than enough to prevent heat loss that could occur through the flooring.
Next up is our Oriented Strand Board (OSB), which, if you’re unfamiliar with the term, is essentially wooden boards, much like plywood, that are used structurally within the roofing. It also keeps the entire insulation system nice and secure. Our choice of boards are moisture-resistant and made within the UK, which means a reduction in carbon miles, and we are supporting sustainable business practices.
And finally, locking it all together is the roof itself, whether you have smooth rubber roofing or have chosen a cute shingle tile, the culmination of our roof insulation system leaves your cabin with an exceptional ability to retain heat. All of this, combined with the fact that we always use double-glazed windows and doors, means your cabin will be the warm, welcoming and cosy place we all dream it to be.
We install our cabins all year round, giving our customers the flexibility to enjoy their garden space, whether it’s the cosy season or a sweltering summer. So, what are you waiting for? Come visit our site to feel the power of our insulation for yourself.
